A sorcerer Balthazar Blake(acted by Nicholas Cage) chooses an average guy Dave(acted by Jay Baruchel) to be his protegé. He must give Dave a crash course in Magic so that Dave can defend the city from his enemy Maxim Horvath(acted by Alfred Molina).

I am surprised that this movie is not too bad. The special effects are fine and I can see the chemistry between the 2 male leads. I was entertained in the cinema. Do watch this movie while it is still screening in the cinemas. Ha.

In the 3rd instalment of Twilight, there is a series of mysterious killings in Seattle. As graduation is rapidly approaching, Bella(acted by Kristen Stewart) is forced to choose between her love for the vampire Edward (acted by Robert Pattinson) and her friendship for the werewolf Jacob(acted by Taylor Lautner). Victoria(acted by Bryce Dallas Howard) is creating an army of vampires and using them to hunt down Bella. Victoria wants to take revenge on Edward for killing her mate James by hurting Bella.

I prefer this instalment and the first instalment to the 2nd one ‘New Moon’. Eclipse has more action and kissing scenes. I like action packed movies.This movie’s theme is darker too. I like the fact that the vampires and the werewolves co-operated to kill the newborns(new vampires). I can hardly wait for Breaking Dawn part 1 and part 2 to be out in Nov 2011 and Nov 2012 respectively.

A Popular Singer- Composer Du Ming Han(acted by Wang Lee Hom) has all that he wants but he still feels that something is lacking in his life. One day, his car knocks into a girl Song Xiao Qing(acted by Crystal Liu Yi Fei) slightly. Xiao Qing is playing a Gu Zheng and Ming Han sees computer animated butterflies when he sees her doing that.Realising that she is studying in a music school, he decides to disguise himself and enrol in the school as a student.

His good friend and fellow musician Wei Zhi Bo(acted by Chen Han Dian) accompanies him in the school. Xiao Qing likes Mu Fan so Ming Han decides to help her to get closer to Mu Fan. Ming Han is convinced that Xiao Qing is his soul mate and that he is not in love with her.

Frankly speaking, I am disappointed with Lee Hom’s directorial debut. I am a huge fan of his music. His music videos are better directed than this movie. This movie pales in comparison to Jay Chou’s ‘Secret’. I did not know how to react when I saw Lee Hom’s character Ming Han imagining himself as a scholar in ancient times with Xiao Qing. The storyline is too far-fetched. A superstar falls in love with a normal girl who is not in showbiz ?! I think that it is not realistic. How many of us can actually get to know an artiste well and fall in love with him or her? The music in this movie is better than the movie itself. I think that it is better to buy his latest album ’18 Martial Arts’ instead of watching this movie.Do support his latest album as it will be released on next Wednesday in Singapore.

Love In A Puff is not your typical kind of romantic comedy. The main focus is on how 2 smokers Cherie(acted by Miriam Yeung Chin Wah) and Jimmy (acted by Shawn Yue Man Lok) share a bond after they get to meet at a smoking area. There is plenty of smoking scenes and vulgarities sprouted in the movie. Cherie is a few years older than Jimmy and she feels insecure about it. Miriam is also a few years older than Shawn in real life. I am glad that I managed to buy the dvd when I went to Johore Bahru in July. I prefer to watch Hong Kong movies in their original language Cantonese. Do watch the movie on dvd if you can. It is an unusual movie with an unique theme.

New York, I Love You consists of 10 stories which are set in New York and are directed by 10 different directors. Some segments are funny like the Ethan Hawke’s segment in which he tries to hit on a hooker acted by Maggie Q. Some segments like the Shia LaBeouf ’s segment left me wondering what had actually happened in the segments.

This is one of the movies which had me confused after watching it. Another movie is 21 Grams(2003). I do suggest that the viewers should opt for another movie to watch as I felt that I had wasted my time watching it.

An old soldier(acted by Jackie Chan)kidnaps a young general(acted by Wang Lee Hom) from an enemy state and takes him on a long journey home to collect a reward. Along the way, they meet a seductive woman, a bear, a tribe and some enemies of the general.

I had watched this movie mainly because of Lee Hom. He is my favourite singer. I like him because he is not just a pretty face but a man who is talented in many ways you can name. I am glad that his acting has improved quite a lot since his last movie Lust Caution. The movie is very funny and action packed. It is quite sad that Jackie Chan’s character died in the movie. Do watch this movie on dvd if you have missed it in the theatres earlier on.

Former CIA agent Bob Ho(acted by Jackie Chan) offers to take care of his girlfriend Gillian(acted by Amber Valletta)’s three children when she has to leave town to take care of her injured father. Bob is thinking of taking the opportunity to get the kids to warm up to him and accept him. However, the kids think that Bob is really a pen importer and find him dull and boring. Some villains are after Bob as they think that he has downloaded a secret formula of theirs. It is up to Bob to protect the kids from them.

I had not expected much from this comedy but I had enjoyed myself when I was watching it. It is quite funny and I do like the action sequences displayed. It is a movie which people can watch on dvd to unwind on a weekend.

Up In The Air is directed by Jason Reitman and is based on a novel of the same name by Walter Kim. It tells the story of a corporate downsizer Ryan Bingham(acted by George Clooney). He has his own twisted philosophies about life. He is not close to his elder sister Kara and younger sister Julie. Ryan has a personal goal that is to achieve ten million frequent flyer miles. He meets and falls in love with another frequent flyer, Alex Goran(acted by Vera Farmiga).

I actually felt bored while watching this movie despite the oscar nominations it had received. I guess this type of movie is not everyone’s cup of tea. George Clooney is charming like he always has been. I guess that it might be the only redeeming factor about this movie.

In 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels(acted by Leonardo DiCaprio) is investigating the disappearance of a murderess from Ashecliffe Hospital which is located on Boston’s Shutter Island. The hospital refuses him access to the medical records which he suspects could help him solve the case. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, Teddy is stuck on the island with his partner Chuck Aule(acted by Mark Ruffalo). He begins to doubt his memory of incidents, Chuck and even his own sanity.

This is a good movie directed by Martin Scorsese. As usual, his movies are great. I had watched Gangs Of New York, The Aviator and The Departed which were directed by him as well. There is a twist to the storyline. I was really sad when I realize what really happened to Teddy. Tears just flowed out of my eyes. I shall leave it to the viewers to find out what had happened as I know that this movie is not shown in the theatres in certain countries yet. I hate it when someone reveals too much about a movie which I have not seen yet. Therefore, I am not going to do the same to anyone.

God loses his faith in mankind and sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. The Archangel Michael(acted by Paul Bettany) takes it upon himself to save the people from ultimate doom.

I do not really like this movie. I find the storyline simply ridiculous and boring. The real God is not like that. He is forgiving and loves his children whom he has created. As a christian, I do feel offended by the storyline. I hope that film makers can come up with better storylines in the future.
